About Me

I was born and raised in Galax, VA and became a Christian when I was a junior in high school through a summer youth camp in the Pocono Mountains of PA.  I was always active in music in high school, so when I graduated I decided to go to Concord University in Athens, WV to study Music Education.  It was my goal in life to become a successful high school band director.  While in college working with high school students, I saw a great need for good Christian role models in the lives of young students.  I knew that the most important thing any good role model could do is share the life changing message of Jesus Christ.  My question then was, how can a teacher share Christ with a student?

As a college student, I got involved with Campus Crusade for Christ on our college campus.  I was involved with the music ministry, leadership, conferences, and Bible studies.  The semester before I graduated, while I was contemplating my future after graduation, we went to a Cru conference in Baltimore, MD called Radiate.  At that conference I found out about an opportunity to do campus based high school ministry on high school campuses with Campus Crusade's high school ministry called Student Venture.  I knew this was the answer to what I was looking for.  Whether God called me into long term ministry or I ended up back in schools teaching, I knew this would be an awesome opportunity to learn how to reach students with the Gospel in public high schools.

The past two years, I worked in Philadelphia, PA with Cru in high schools.  It was an amazing experience, and I have been so blessed to be part of what God is doing there.  I have now moved on from there and am pursuing a seminary education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC but my work with Cru is continuing part-time with the Raleigh-Durham Cru High School team as I pursue my education.  This blog is just a way for me to tell others about the awesome things God has been doing in my life and ministry.  Hope you enjoy!
